Today's Notes:
There wasn't much snowfall to end the end of October but the temperatures did drop into the low to mid 20s which made it pretty cold, especially for this time of the year. Things look to warm up, perhaps our last warmup before things really start getting into winter. There is still snow on the ground in western Marquette county, higher elevations in Baraga county, Northern Houghton county and Keweenaw county. The weekly Top 10 Snowiest videos will now become part of the Yooper Steve Show. I will probably be keeping the day as Monday but I might change the time to be later in the evening as to allow me to prepare for the show and to complete the snowfall duties, and any errands I need to do for the day. Today's Notes:
I have been getting a few questions about where is this town for snowfall, what about this town, how much snow here, why don't you have this town listed? Right now I am not listing every location until around the beginning of November. I will be listing around 80 snowfall locations across the Upper Peninsula like I do every year so don't worry you will see it appear soon, many locations haven't seen much snow like the western and central areas of the UP have.
There was an unsurprisingly amount of snowfall that fell late morning into the mid morning hours that brough our highest one day totals so far this season. With this snowfall the NWS Marquette office set two snowfall records, one being the most snowfall for Oct 25th, 8.3 inches, surpassing the 1976 Oct 25th total of 3.1 inches. This daily snowfall total brought the NWS office snow location to 19.2 inches for the month passing the old October monthly record of 18.6 inches. Has there been more records set for the month of October at other snowfall locations, I am not sure, I haven't dug into the data, that would take a lot of time but I might try to gather some data and take a look to see if there has been more records, we will have a few days left of October to go. This is going down as a snowy beginning to the 2020-21 winter season here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Other locations in the Upper Peninsula have seen a good amount of snowfall like Keweenaw county, Painesdale, Calumet(Tamarack Loc ), Calumet north, Houghton County (Superior loc), Herman, Bergland, Three Lakes, and other locations in the UP. Things look to remain on the cool side which brings the potential for light snow showers with any cold north and north west winds over Lake Superior. These temperatures are also bringing the temperatures on Lake Superior down soon enough we will start seeing a little ice forming on the big lake. On the site I will again list the Lake Superior Ice Coverage and Great Lakes Ice Coverage when the first ice is recorded for this season.

Below you'll find the snow totals for both October 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. I won't be getting the entire list of snowfall locations onto the website until the beginning of November. Most locations haven't seen much snowfall other than the central and western Upper Peninsula where most have seen more than 5 inches and as high as 20 inches.

Today's Notes:
A quick hitting wet snowfall last night into the early morning hours today. Roads were slushy a bit early on during the morning hours but as things warmed up a little roads became clear. Most of the snowfall was from the Western UP and over to the Central UP with the central UP seeing the most south of Ishpeming. Painesdale and Tamarack location have recorded snow for the last 6 days and have recorded snowfall for 8 of the 20 days so far, and today it is snowing more, with more on the way this week. If you haven't already gotten your snow tires on, cleaned up your yards, and stocked your car with your emergency supplies you better do it quickly, November is looking to come in with a bang. Below today's snowfall totals you will find the last weeks snow totals for a few locations. It won't be until the beginning of November until I put up over 80s snowfall locations in the UP, when snow really starts flying, most haven't even had snow or have had less than an inch so far this season.
