Each week FunintheUP gives you the TOP 10 Snowiest Locations in the Upper Peninsula. You will want to make sure you tune in LIVE on Facebook each week or check this page each week to see where the snowiest places in the Upper Peninsula are. Usually the first month or two months the locations change pretty frequently until we really get into winter and that Lake Effect snowfall really starts flying. Areas of the Copper Country, Keweenaw, and east of Munising are usually always in your TOP 10 over the long period. You can count on Calumet, Painesdale, Keweenaw county, Grand Marais, Newberry, and Ironwood areas to be very snowy through the winter season.

After about a week of no snow and mild conditions slightly above normal there was a few days we saw some colder weather and some snowfall. The mid eastern area of the UP had the most snowfall this week, while the Copper Country and Keweenaw saw about half of what the eastern areas saw.

Not a lot of snowfall this week, except for the Huron Mountains, south of Big Bay saw quite a bit of upper level winds that dropped some good lake effect snowfall to that area moving Eagle Mine up into the #8 positiong this week and the first time being in the Top 10 this winter. The top 7 positions remained the same.

The last couple day of 2019 were pretty snowy. Almost all the weeks snowfall came in 3 days and most of that was on the Dec 30th. So far the start of January we have seen little snowfall.

Snow totals weren't much for the week, below average for sure. We saw another week of warm weather. It rained yesterday as well. There was a little movement in the positions this week. Painesdale was updated to reflect the snow numbers I missed on 15th and 16th.

Wasn't much snowfall this week compared to last week. We hit a snow drought again this December sort of like we did last December. This week most stations stayed in the same positon as last week, Newberry moved up 2, Calumet and Houghton county both dropped 1 position, and Munising joined the Top 10 after being off it after week 3. Ironwood #1 dropped off the 10th position.

This week was a snowy one for sure, one of the snowiest you will ever see for a week across the Upper Peninsula as a whole. The snowiest was in the Copper Country from Greenland to Delaware along the spine of the Keweenaw. Grand Marais (Green Haven loc) dropped off for the first time from #1, a position it held since Nov 12th, and first time it took over #1 postion was Nov 5th. It likely won't return to the number one position now that the regular lake effect snowfall is in full force across the western and northern Upper Peninsula. It will probably stay in the Top 10 most likely through most of the year as it is in one of the snow belts in the eastern UP.
