Just a trace of snow up to 3-5 inches near Bergland and Ironwood. Still a bit behind last years totals and last year was the lowest snow we saw for over 6 years. Really we aren't to much off normal November snowfall across the UP, just the last 5 or 6 years we have been above average snowfall.

Only a trace of snow to less than an inch in the western UP but the eastern UP from around Newberry to Detour Village saw the most snow.
It would be wise for you to get the following items in your vehicle this winter just in case you need it. Pack the following in your vehicle...jumper cables, a shovel, tow strap, bag of kitty litter or bucket of sand, a flashlight with extra batteries, reflective neon vest, a blanket (preferrably synthetic or wool), a few packets of Hand Warmers/Body Warmers. It would be wise to get your vehicle battery tested to make sure it is in peak performance, you can get it tested for free at Autozone, if it's on its last legs it would be wise to get it replaced.

A few inches across much of the UP today, higher snowfall near the Soo and Big Bay. Still far below what we had last year at this time, and last year it was a low snow year, don't expect much for the remaining days of November.

Today's Notes:
Just a little snowfall today which was basically a continuation of the snow that was falling through the morning hours yesterday after measurements for the day. A few light snowbands near Munising brought the most snow in the UP, other areas saw a few tenths of an inch to 2 inches. May have some snow coming on Sunday, but nothing to significant, just a few inches of snow.

Today's Notes:
Much of the Upper Peninsula has now seen snow accumulation or flurries the last 6 days and it was still snowing at the time of measurements this morning so tomorrow we will have seen 7 straight days of snow. We will see the high winds retreat for most of the day on Friday but they will pick up again Friday evening but only into the mid teens with gusts into the lower 20s, a change from 25mph winds with gusts up to 35mph we have seen the last day and a half. We won't see much snow tomorrow, a few flurries are possible, but Saturday looks to be a snow free day for much of the UP, with snow returning on Sunday afternoon, but currently no predictions on the amounts we could see Sunday yet.

Today's Notes:
Snowfall was a little more widespread than yesterday but mainly stayed in the western UP and northern half of the eastern UP, further east you got the less snow you saw. Snow wasn't as wet as the snow on Friday as it was a little bit colder. This snow should help the deer hunters this year as it isn't to deep and just enough for tracking their deer, good luck to all the hunters who will be in the woods hunting this week. Today's Notes:
A little wet lake effect snow made its way into the Upper Peninsula bringing snow mostly to the western areas. Roads were a little wet but not bad to drive on other than being blinded by other vehicles from the reflections of the wet snow as it was blown around. We are coming into that point of the year just after hunting season where we can expect the snow to start staying on the ground, I don't think what we have gotten and will get tomorrow will stick around to many days, but it won't be too long before we start seeing it regularly again so get anything you have been putting off around the yard or outside done this week it could be your last until March and April.

Today's Notes:
Another round of wet snow, that typical early November snowfall we always see, sloppy and slippery, along with a few cars in the ditches. Time for snow tires if you haven't already gotten them on make your appointment and get your vehicles ready with your emergency gear, jumper cables, and a good strong battery are number one, a shovel, a tow strap would be handy too, if not for yourself you might be able to help someone else, being stuck on a back road in the cold and snow up to your knees isn't a fun way to spend your day.
So we saw pretty much the same type of winds move through the Upper Peninsula yesterday, but it brought a little more snowfall than yesterday. We will see some snow flakes for the next couple days then around Friday we should start seeing temps get back into the 40s and even low 50s across much of the UP. This was our warning that November could be a snowy one, unlike last year in November, we had more snow in October than we had in November of last year. Let's hope for a little bit more consistent snowfall through this winter than last year, if we can get a few nice snow storms and the temps can stay on the cooler side, 10-20 degrees for much of the winter, I think it won't be so bad for winter recreation activities, I am looking forward to more cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowbiking than I did last winter, which wasn't much. Enjoy the weekend and the warmer weather ahead before we really get into the swing of things by the 3rd week of November.

Today's Notes:
October 31st we saw some light snowflakes and graupel in the early evening and into the overnight hours. Winds picked up plenty of moisture off of Lake Superior over the Porkies and Ontonagon area moving southeast across the Trap hills and causing around 1-3 inches of snowfall from Bergland, south of Rockland, to Bruce Crossing area, and even over to Covington. Those same westernly winds picked up moisture off the warm waters of Keweenaw Bay to deposit 4 inches of snowfall in Herman. Roads got a little slippery overnight in those areas being that it was our first accumulation and will continue to be very slushy and slippery for the time being until we can get some consistent cold temps to start freezing those upper layers of earth under the roadways. There were plenty of people in the ditches today and a few accidents in a matter of 3 hours around the Houghton to Calumet area. I saw one guy drove over the median on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and blocked traffic for about 30 minutes. Another accident two trucks collided on M26 just north of the stoplight at Pizza Hut, it was pretty slushy at the time. I heard of more accidents on US41 from Hancock to Calumet in the early afternoon. Just slow down folks and get some good snow tires on your vehicles asap, your highway tires or your universal tread pattern just doesn't cut it for Upper Peninsula snowfall and by golly missy molly take a drivers ed class for winter driving if you are new to driving on snow. See you tomorrow with another snow update, it is coming down still.
