Very little snowfall in the Upper Peninsula most was in the Western and Northern Upper Peninsula. A few flurries elsewhere. More sunshine and more daylight is leading to warmer days and the snowfall to come to the end. March snowfall is about the same as what last year was and overall snow totals are running 40-80 inches less than last year at the snowiest locations.
We most likely won't see any place in the Upper Peninsula reach 300 inches of snow this year, the closest are Keweenaw county (31.9" away) and Tamarack location (17.7" away). As with most people I am sure we are all ready for summer now, especially with this coronavirus lingering.

Some very light and brief snow flurries. Very little accumulation, but there was enough to report. Things should get a little warmer the next few days with some chance of snow flurries Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Snowfall for March 2020 is about equal to what March 2019 snowfall was and we still have a couple weeks left to the month. Overall we are still far behind last years snowfall totals to date. There is still a slight chance that 2 snow stations will reach 300 inches of snow this season, those are Keweenaw county (35" away) and Tamarack location (20.4" away).

Today's Notes:
A brief period of that winter feeling again, wind, snow, and cold. Most of the snow seen today was from the Western UP into the Central UP. The eastern UP was seeing a little bit of snow and wind later today after the system moved from the west. Southern area of the Upper Peninsula saw little snow, basically a dusting was measured today.

Today's Notes:
Just some light snowfall across the Upper Peninsula for todays measurements. Most of the snow we saw was snow that fell early on through the morning yesterday and into the early afternoon, with a few flurries early morning. Almost every snowfall station is far behind last year and most likely won't reach those numbers unless we really get a few good snow storms. Snowfall this year is about normal for most locations so really we are just seeing an average snowfall season across most of the Upper Peninsula. It would be nice if we can start seeing some of that sunshine again like we did see today and start to see some of those snowbanks really disappear before May this year. The last 2 years we have seen snowfall on the ground in the Copper Country and Keweenaw into the middle of May. This year our snowfall depths on the ground are about equal to last years snow depth at this point. The reasons for it are last year we saw some big lake effect snowfall dumps at the end of February and in March, and lake effect snowfall settles very quickly. This year we have had enough snowfall to keep depths high but have also had a few warmups then cold temperatures soon afterwards which froze, creating some hard layers of snowpack. The harder frozen layers of snowpack won't melt as quickly because there isn't much air to move through which slows down the ability of it to melt as temperatures rise much like if you cover the snow in dirt or sawdust. Here's to hoping for more sunshine soon.

Season: 158
Today's Notes:
Very little snowfall today in the Upper Peninsula, less than 2 inches and most was less than an inch. Temperatures look to remain fairly moderate around 25-35 degrees through the week with a few snow flurries possible during the week. Thursday we could see some rain and possibilities of snow and Friday it looks to more more into snowfall probability. I know this isn't our last snow of the season and expecting at least a few more snows in the 2-5 inch range before the month is over and possibly another good snow storm, anything we get now will most likely be wet and heavy. There is a slight possibility we may see Tamarack location hit 300 inches as it sits right now at 272.5 inches of snow and Keweenaw county is also a slight possibility of reaching 300 inches of snow.

Today's Notes:
Decent amount of snowfall in the western, northern, and central Upper Peninsula. Highest numbers were in the Copper Country and Keweenaw. The snow was heavy and wet and made for some slippery conditions during the day. There doesn't look to be any significant snowfall in the next few days and through the weekend right now. Temperatures look to remain in the low 30s and mid 20s.

Just some light snowfall primarily over the eastern end of the Upper Peninsula. Weather has been pretty nice overall the last week. This week temperatures look to remain around normal with a few days of possible flurries and a little bit of rain mixed in.

Today's Notes:
Today Clarksburg joined the 100 Inch Snowfall Club. A nice little system storm moved across the Upper Peninsula yesterday and through the evening. It wasn't so much the snowfall that was impactful but he winds blowing around the snow. Snowfall was heavy and wet throught the early part of the afternoon then as things cooled down it made the roads a little better. There were plenty of accidents that resulted from the wet and heavy snowfall one involving a semi and a truck with a snowmobile trailer on US41 south of L'Anse before Alberta. As midnight approached things started to settle down a bit as the system moved out and today it was sunny out which felt really good and it was quite the difference to yesterdays weather. Look for warmer temperatures Saturday and Sunday and with things cooling down on Monday with some more crazy weather coming, possibly a trifecta with rain, snow, and sleet all in one day, maybe a little sunshine mixed in there somewhere would be nice, but that looks unlikely with over 95% sky cover throughout the day. It is safe to say now that we won't make up for the difference in last years seasonal snow totals, it really would take some big snow storms to catch back up.

Season: 158
Today's Notes:
Just a little light snowfall across the Upper Peninsula, a little north west wind picked up a little moisture and dropped minimal lake effect snowfall, the most across the far eastern UP. Beginning tonight there will be some system snowfall moving in across the UP starting around midnight and picking up early morning Thursday. Overall it won't be to much snowfall at least that is what the weather models are showing, but if conditions are right it could bring more than 5 inches. Most snowfall should occur north of Houghton from Calumet up to Delaware along the spine of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Snowfall totals are dropping each day from what last seasons snowfall totals were at this time. At the end of February and through March we had picked up 30-60 inches of snow by the end of March with an additional 10-25 inches in April and a few inches that fell in May. I wouldn't expect it to be like that this year, but we will still see snowfall at least through the end of March, but things do look to start to trend into more mild weather into the middle of the month. Most likely we won't have any location joining the 300 Inch Club this season and probably not many more that will join the 200 Inch Club. I will still be doing the LIVE at 5pm UP Snow Show on Mondays through at least the next week or two, and longer if we still have snowfall to report then.
Ice on Lake Superior is one of the lowest in many years, compared to last year it is 85% less ice coverage.
