Well folks did winter just arrive? It seems that way in many ways, that months of December and January were well below normal. When we saw over 20 inches hit us in October many were wondering if we were going to see another harsh winter. Well that wasn’t the case, with the two snowiest months December and January left us with less than half of what either month would normally be any given year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well welcome February 4th, 5th, and 6th, our first good few days of snow, wind, and cold, a typical 3 day period of an Upper Peninsula winter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today I was out filming the blowing snow and snowmobilers and it was crazy out there when the winds picked up and blew the snow around, drifts grew across roadways and caused temporary whiteouts across the roadways creating some hazardous conditions. There were many snowmobilers out enjoying the fresh powder today which I am sure many have been waiting for all season. While filming the blowing snow across a roadway today I got to watch a group of snowmobilers on Trail 17 near Swedetown get a stuck snowmobile out of the marsh off the trail. You can watch the LIVE video I did here. Usually by the middle of January you can count on good snow through the end of February to beginning of March.
